Sun Hung Kai Properties Hong Kong Cyclothon concluded successfully continuing to demonstrate the spirit of Sports-for-Charity

Sun Hung Kai Properties Hong Kong Cyclothon, for which SHKP is the title and charity sponsor, and which is organized by the Hong Kong Tourism Board, came to a successful conclusion recently after a four-year absence. Nearly 4,000 cyclists participated in six cycling events and professional races, making the event the largest outdoor charitable sports event of the year. Along with SHKP’s top-up donations, the event raised over HK$1.5 million to support service programmes through The Community Chest of Hong Kong.

The six cycling events comprise of the two most popular non-competitive 50-km and 30km rides and Men’s and Women’s Open Race, and the Team Time Trial for the HKSAR 25th Anniversary Trophy. To demonstrate the spirit of Sports-for-Charity, participants were encouraged to make a registration donation of HK$100 to HK$500 and all the registration fees for the CEO Charity and Celebrity Ride were donated to support the needy in the community through The Community Chest of Hong Kong, along with SHKP’s top up donations.

SHKP has been promoting cycling for years. Besides being the title and charity sponsor of the Cyclothon event since 2015, the Group also set up the SHKP Cycling Academy offering cycling training to secondary school students and sponsored the SHKP Supernova Cycling Team providing systematic cycling training to young people. Students from both the Academy and the cycling team were sponsored by SHKP to participate in the 50km and 30km rides.
