SHKP Sports for Charity Carnival 2019 Over 1,000 citizens turned calories burned into $3 million donations



To promote the “Sports-for-Charity” spirit and encourage the spread of positive vibes through exercise, Sun Hung Kai Properties (SHKP) held the SHKP Sports for Charity Carnival 2019 at the Hong Kong Velodrome on 12 October. Over a thousand members of the public, including about 200 beneficiary children and young families from various charity organizations, had fun exercising together that day and SHKP turned the roughly 60,000 calories burned by the participants, acting as sports for charity pro, into donations of HK$3 million to support six projects for underprivileged children and young people.

There were 16 interesting sports activities at the event, including a virtual cycling world championship, an experiential game of vertical running and SHKP Cycling Academy 4km ride challenge, enjoyed by members of the public of all ages and filled with positive energy.

There were also a number of exciting races at the carnival, such as a balance bike competition with over 200 child participants, a track cycling race for young athletes, and a joint-school stationary bike race with 16 secondary school teams competing. Sports stars – World Champion Cyclist and Rainbow Jersey holder Wong Kam-po and long distance runner Chan Ka-ho shared their inspiring stories at the event.
