About Cycling
Sun Hung Kai Properties (SHKP) has been the title and charity sponsor of Hong Kong Cyclothon, an annual event organized by the Hong Kong Tourism Board, since 2015. The SHKP Hong Kong Cyclothon promotes cycling across the city through the iconic 50-km Three-Tunnels-Three-Bridges cycling activity, the fun ride event in the bustling centre of Tsim Sha Tsui, mall events, a carnival and game booths. To enhance the attractiveness of the event and strengthen Hong Kong’s international status, SHKP will present an unprecedented world-class professional race to Hong Kong, inviting the UCI WorldTour teams to compete with local cyclists. Adhering to the spirit of Sports-for-Charity, designated proceeds of the event will go to charity to support the development of young people.
In 2018, SHKP sponsored and established the SHKP Cycling Academy with the Cycling Association of Hong Kong, China. A track cycling pilot scheme was launched to promote track cycling in secondary schools to boost young people’s physical fitness and resilience, and identify cycling talent for the Hong Kong Cycling Team.
